Graphene-containing tires exhibit good performance

Gratomic has announced a breakthrough technology that it says could enhance the performance of its tires by using graphenes.
During an 18-month development program, Gratomic tires enhanced with surface engineered graphenes were tested on real roads in the UK. They exhibited more than a 30% increase in wear resistance over competing brand tires – equivalent to an additional mileage of +30% before it was necessary to replace the tire.

The world supply of natural rubber (NR) fell 8.3% to 5.853 million metric tons during the first half of 2019 compared to the previous year, according to the latest report from the Association of Natural Rubber Producing Countries (ANRPC). World demand for NR increased 0.8% to 6.933 million metric tons during the same reference period.

Bridgestone opens off-the-road tire factory in Thailand

Bridgestone has opened a new radial tire factory for construction and mining vehicles in Thailand. This facility is the first of its kind in an Asian country other than Japan. It is located in Amata City Industrial Estate (Rayong Province) and spans an area of 9,300,000ft2.
