New technology turns carbon from recycled tires into graphite

Australian tire recycler Green Distillation Technologies (GDT) has partnered with CarbonScape, a company based in New Zealand, to turn the carbon created in its recycling process into high value graphite.
GDT’s tire recycling process converts waste tires into oil, carbon and steel. CarbonScape has developed patented technology that turns sawdust and waste biomass into high-purity, high-value carbon products, including graphite.

New surface-modified carbon black for tires developed

Orion Engineered Carbons has developed a new line of surface-modified carbon blacks for rubber applications.
According to the supplier, the new filler system greatly reduces the energy loss of a tire tread compound and therefore the tire’s rolling resistance. The surface-modified carbon blacks also exhibited extremely high levels of abrasion resistance in laboratory evaluations.
Orion notes that other tire fillers are unable to offer a balance between wear and energy dissipation.

Myanmar exported 192,980 tons of rubber worth of 247.56 million U.S. dollars in the first 11 months from October to August of the present fiscal year 2018-19 , exceeding the targeted of 170,000 tons, according to the figures of the Ministry of Commerce on Sunday. The rubber exports increased by 41,090 tons compared with the same period of the previous year of 2017-18 when it registered 151,890 tons worth 184.36 million U.S. dollars.
