Myanmar exports 76,000+ tonnes of rubber worth US$94 mln in 5 months

More than 76,594 tonnes of Myanmar’s rubber were exported to foreign countries in the past five months (April-Aug) of the current financial year 2023-2024, with an estimated value of US$94.48 million, according to the Ministry of Commerce.

The government has no plans to replace rubber with kenaf or bamboo, said Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof. Fadillah, who is also the Plantation and Commodities Minister, said that, even though many rubber plantations have been replaced with palm oil, it is important for the production of rubber and scrap (cup lump rubber) to be maintained in this country.

China, world’s top graphite producer, to curb exports of key battery material

China said on Friday it will require export permits for some graphite products to protect national security, in its latest move to control supplies of critical minerals in response to challenges over its global manufacturing dominance. China is the world’s top graphite producer and exporter. It also refines more than 90 per cent of the world’s graphite into the material that is used in virtually all EV battery anodes, which is the negatively charged portion of a battery.
