Toyo to launch Celsius tire with wear-resistant compound for taxis

Celsius, an all-season tire aimed at taxi applications, is to be launched by Toyo Tire in August 2023. Toyo further developed the already available standard Celsius tire’s tread compound and added several more wear-resistant polymers and carbon to create a taxi-specific compound with an enhanced wear rate, to cope with the vehicles’ extended operating times and distances.

Production Milestone Achieved for Partially Biobased PET

Origin Materials Inc. (West Sacramento, Calif.) and Husky Technologies (Bolton, Ont.) announced what they called a milestone in the commercialization of PET incorporating the biobased feedstock FDCA (furandicarboxylic acid), which replaces petroleum-based PET component terephthalic acid (PTA), using standard PET equipment to injection mold preforms from PET/F, which were subsequently blowmolded into bottles.

Malaysia to raise its annual latex production by 30pc, says Fadillah

The government plans to boost the country’s latex production by 30 per cent to 40,000 tonnes annually to help meet the demand of the rubber-based downstream sector, Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof said. Fadillah, who is also Plantation and Commodities Minister, said the government has already introduced the Latex Production Incentive (IPL) which is under the Malaysian Rubber Board’s supervision.

Philippines to prioritize solid waste in EU’s €60-million green program

THE PHILIPPINE Environment department would prioritize solid waste management under a €60-million (P3.6 billion) green economy program of the European Union (EU). The agency seeks to harness the potential of a 2022 law that requires big companies to recover their plastic waste, Environment Secretary Maria Yulo-Loyzaga told a news briefing on Wednesday. “The mitigation aspect in terms of the green economy program in the Philippines really comes from the management of our solid waste,” she said.
